Steven’s work explores structured rules of society and the journey of spirit. He is intrigued by contradictions between social construct and the internal, organic experience. His artistic exploration attempts to reconcile the fixed frameworks we inherit within our own nature. Steven’s abstract collages balance sharp, precise lines and rounded, flowing shapes. His compositions act as windows into the mind, creating dreamscapes that feel foreign yet familiar. Through assemblage, Steven also re-purposes old electronics, circuit boards, and junk drawer scores. These random elements are encased in paint, unifying parts into a whole. While the collages map the “software”, the assemblages represent the “hardware” of structure and society. Together, they reflect an ongoing attempt to achieve harmony between system and soul.
