Education & Programs at the Grand Forks Art Gallery
Education and Public Programs at Grand Forks Art Gallery are intended to encourage participation and increase accessibility to arts and culture. A range of options is available, from self-directed exhibition enjoyment to public talks and tours. As a cornerstone cultural institution, the gallery works in conjunction with the local arts, social services, and not-for-profit community to provide relevant, responsive engagement opportunities.
Yoga @ the Gallery
Tuesdays from May 27 to July 29 - 4:45 pm to 6 pm
Join yoga instructor Leah Carnahan for a weekly somatic yoga class at the Grand Forks Art Gallery. Her heartfelt classes are best described as welcoming, inspiring, safe, playful, grounding, and peaceful. Leah feels that a balance of movement and stillness together brings a natural inspiration to every moment.
While she facilitates gentle movement, she encourages those around her to listen to their innermost voice and make the postures their own. Leah feels that loving acceptance of the moment as it is and of yourself as you are allows for the most rewarding practice.

300 Mason Jars
Saturday July 19 - 10 am to 2 pm
In this workshop Joanne Thomson, author and artist behind 300 Mason Jars will guide you through a critical look at glass to recognize and capture some of the distortions glass causes in watercolours. You will learn how to capture the essentials of your subject, lay a thin wash over your underpainting and most importantly, how not to panic when it looks like things are going off kilter! Please bring an object that intrigues you and a glass jar to hold it. Keep it simple – the glass will make it complex enough.
All materials are supplied. If you are an experienced watercolourist and have artist quality paints and 100% rag watercolour paper that you prefer, feel free to bring your own materials for the workshop.
